Say hi to Juliana, one of our Piano teachers here at Dronfield Music Tuition. Juliana is a musician and music educator teaching piano, recorder, Irish whistle and flute. She has 8 years of experience teaching music in individual, small group, whole class and ensemble contexts, working with all ages and abilities.
She approaches music education from the perspective of the student, whether their goals are to learn a new skill, take examinations or just to have fun and enjoy music-making! She is also passionate about community work and has delivered interactive music workshops and projects in hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries. She completed her undergraduate degree in Music Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and recently achieved Distinction in an MA in Music Psychology from the University of Sheffield.
As a musician, Juliana has performed on TV, theatre and radio including for the BBC and the Royal Shakespeare Company. She plays whistles, recorders and sings in folk fusion band Shivelights, performing at venues throughout the UK. She is also involved in a new improvisation-based project which draws on minimalism, early music and folk influences, and has provided instrumental and backing vocals for numerous session recordings. She also composes music for several projects- her influences draw upon Irish, Bulgarian and Japanese folk music. She is a friendly, encouraging and imaginative teacher, and plans her lessons on the basis that music-making should be experienced and enjoyed by all!
“Juliana is patient, enthusiastic, reliable and encouraging. There is a clear structure to the lessons, and we can see the progress that is being made, and the plan for how this will continue. We’re really pleased and can’t recommend Juliana enough” (student testimonial)
